A lot of people seem to think that it is only President Trump who does not let certain immigrants into a country.
There are not many developed nations at all that are going to take these risks. Ironically, most Arab countries are not taking refugees from Syria.
One nation that is often viewed as being liberal and progressive is actually stricter than most with their ban.
Japan has long restricted the practice of Islam on its shores. For instance, it is not permitted to build a mosque there, and certainly not to belt out the Muslim call to prayer over loudspeakers.
In explaining his position to the United Nations, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said his government would provide financial aid to refugees, but could not be expected to allow them into Japan.
“As an issue of demography, I would say that before accepting immigrants or refugees we need to have more activities by women, by elderly people and we must raise (the) birth rate,” he said. “There are many things that we should do before accepting immigrants.”
