The world was shocked yesterday when disturbing footage surfaced of four black people viciously beating an 18 year-old white man while they shouted things like “F*ck Donald Trump!” and “F*ck white people!”
Today, the four perpetrators were arrested and charged with various offenses, including committing a hate crime. Now, disturbing details about the crime have been revealed.
The four perpetrators have reportedly been identified as Jordan Hill, 18; Tesfaye Cooper, 18; and sisters Brittany, 18, and Tanisha Covington, 24. The victim, who is developmentally disabled, and Hill were reportedly classmates when they were in high school.
Daily Mail reported the sick details of the crime:
The victim’s parents dropped him off at a McDonald’s on Saturday so that he could spend the night with Hill. They reported him missing on Monday when they could track their son down.
When Hill picked the victim up, he was driving a stolen van – something the victim apparently did not know. For the first two days, the two hug out visiting friends and the victim reportedly slept in the van at nights.
Things took a turn on Tuesday, when they visited the West Chicago residence of the Covington sisters. A few hours after they arrived at the house, where Cooper was as well, Hill and the victim got into a play fight that escalated.
That’s when the sisters tied him up and the group started torturing him for about six hours. Half an hour of this torture was live-streamed on Facebook, showing the group beating the young man, cutting off a bit of his scalp, forcing him drink toilet water while yelling ‘f*** Donald Trump. F*** white people’ at him.
Police says the young man made so much noise as he was being tortured that the downstairs neighbors eventually called police to report the noise.
The group became angered with the downstairs neighbors, and three of them went downstairs to kick the neighbor’s door in. It was at this moment that the victim was able to make a break for it.
Outside of the residence, a police officer saw the victim ‘bloodied and bruised’, wearing a tank top and shorts in the dead of winter and looking generally confused so he walked up to talk to him.
Officers then realized that the victim was the same young man missing from Streamwood, Illinois.
After the perpetrators were arrested, police said that none of them had any remorse whatsoever.
“The actions in that video are reprehensible. That along with racism have absolutely no place in the city of Chicago or anywhere else for that matter, against anyone regardless of their race, gender, state of mental health or any other identifying factor,” Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Thursday.
